Suspected Nothing

Point of View: of the 3 officers.

It was a dark night, we were drinking our coffee and relaxing, when we derived a call from a close neighbor who was walking by an ally and was electrified by a near shriek from the neighboring house. They wanted to go and spy; however they stayed home, they had surmised there was something odd happening, but still they wanted to figure out what was going on. They endeavored they would find out some things, and tell us what´s happening. So, in a cursory manner we checked our inventory which was made to see what equipment to take for this type of problems, and went to the house.

The young man politely invited us in and we stayed to chat. Gingerly we searched the house, everything normal, and everything okay, the man was nice and tranquil. He sat very nervously, but not suspicious, chatted with us, but then got up and started moving, he looked annoyed. Still we continued our conversation. We suspected nothing, nothing at all.

Until his soothing tone went away and became abrasive, then he screamed “Villains! Dissemble no more! I admit the deed-- tear up the plans-- here, here! – It is the beating of his hideous heart! He had succumbed to the pressure and stopped simulting his horrendous truth.

He corroborated his crime. He told us the gruesome details of his killing, and grimaces crossed our faces. We saw the dead man lying there, stone dead. The killer was clad in madness though he even said he wasn’t, surely it was an act from a mad man.
